We’re hiring an Indigenous Presenter Network Manager

One-year contract position
EMPLOYMENT LOCATION
Remote work and onsite at select APA events in Atlantic Canada (travel approximately 20% of the year). Attend APA’s other significant events, Contact East, Convergence25, MemberConnect, and the Indigenous Presenter Gathering. Additional travel to relevant events may be requested, provided the employee agrees to it. APA will cover all travel-related costs.
EXPECTED WORK HOURS AND SCHEDULE
28 hours a week, generally Monday to Thursday between 9 am and 4 pm, in the Atlantic time zone, with a flexible schedule, excluding while working longer hours on site at our events, e.g. Indigenous Presenter Gathering, Contact East, Convergence, and MemberConnect. For time over and above the standard work week (28 hours), APA will provide time off in lieu instead of overtime pay. APA will be flexible on when this time is taken, but generally, some will be used the week directly following the event, when the office will be closed. The employee can take unpaid leave provided that notice is given. Leave should not interfere with APA commitments.
HOLIDAYS
The APA office is closed for all statutory and Nova Scotia provincial/bank holidays. The APA office closes for two weeks over the Christmas holiday period, during which the employee will be compensated at their regular contracted rate. APA will honour other off times upon request, such as hunting, fishing, harvesting, and other culturally significant activities.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Executive Director and the Director of Operations and Programs, the Indigenous Presenter Network Manager is an integral member of the APA team responsible for managing all Indigenous aspects of APA’s operations and programs. The Indigenous Presenter Network Manager nurtures and cultivates a variety of relationships, utilizing excellent communication and organizational skills to ensure the success of all aspects of APA’s Indigenous programs, operations, and relationships. The Indigenous Presenter Network Manager is supported in their role by the Indigenous Presenters Network Manager Advisory Circle.
Pay rate: $40,000 annual salary, payable weekly via e-transfer, commencing upon contract signing.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Generate and Manage Indigenous Presenter Development Content.
- Coordinate/produce Indigenous Presenter Gathering (IPG).
- Venue contracts, BEOs, and catering
- Admin – LOAs/negotiations, bios/marketing materials, registration
- Communications
- Event logistics management – IPG.
- Coordinate networking meetings.
- Main point of contact for the Indigenous Presenters Program (IPP) network.
- Coordinate the IPP delegation at Contact East and other events.
- Regular online network meetings.
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings of the Advisory Circle and APA staff if needed.
- Work with the Advisory Circle to determine the program content – topics, activities, discussions, etc.
- Coordinate with the graphic designer to create branding and marketing materials (invites, social media assets)
- Coordinate all on-site event activities (including room setup, hospitality area, signage, and technical needs for speakers, etc.)
- Ensure all accessibility requests are fulfilled.
- Coordinate and manage registration.
- Produce an event and program report to be shared with the APA board and funding bodies.
- Participate in a post-event debrief meeting with APA staff.

- Someone Indigenous.
- The funding for this position requires that we hire an individual who is 35 years of age or younger.
- Preference will be given to individuals who live in the Atlantic Region or plan to live there.

THE HIRING PROCESS

We will contact everyone who applies to inform them if they have been selected for an interview. If you are selected for an interview, it will be conducted over Zoom, and you will be sent questions in advance to prepare. Three people will conduct the interview: the APA’s Executive Director, Laurie; the Director of Operations and Programs, Lisa; and a past board member and member of APA’s Equity Action Advisory Committee who is Indigenous. The interview will be 30-45 minutes long. We will notify all candidates of the interview process outcome on Monday, July 28, 2024. We hope to have the candidate in place on August 5, 2025.
