Bel and Quinn

Contact East 2024 Showcasing Artist

Accompanied by the unmistakable sound of Quinn's electric guitar, the duo Bel and Quinn entices the audience with their warm voices and captivating harmonies. The two sisters of Haitian origin perform in French, Creole, and English, bringing to life electrifying music mixing jazz, soul, and the rhythms of Haiti. The themes of self-acceptance and healing resonate with the public and envelop them with a comforting feeling.

Bel writes the lyrics while Quinn composes and arranges the original pieces brilliantly, in addition to establishing herself as a talented jazz guitarist. Committed to promoting female artists, the duo surrounds itself with some of Canada’s most talented musicians, including award-winning drummer Salin Cheewapansri, award-winning saxophonists Beth McKenna and Marie-Josée Frigon as well as trumpeter Josiane Rouette.

Members of the Conseil Québécois de la musique (CQM), they launched a very promising EP, Fanm nan dife, in September 2021. They have been invited to perform at numerous festivals, including the festival Québec jazz en juin, the Festival Nuits d’Afrique and Haiti en folie. In 2021, they participated in the popular show Belle et Bum, broadcast on Télé-Québec. In October 2023, the duo launched their first album, Donte sann yo. Thanks to this new project funded by the Canada Council for the Arts (CCA), Bel and Quinn received their first nomination for the 2024 Juno Awards in the “Global music album of the year” category.
