PEI Symphony Orchestra

PEI Symphony Orchestra

Established in 1967, the PEI Symphony Orchestra presents orchestral music to the communities of PEI and provides performance experiences for both professionals and non-professionals alike.

Our orchestra brings together players from many different walks of life: professionals including university music professors, school teachers, amateurs, and university music students. This blend is most rewarding and the music programmed is selected to encourage growth in the performers as well as to satisfy the audience’s need for gratifying and appealing live music.

Each season, the PEI Symphony Orchestra presents four concerts at the Confederation Centre of the Arts. Three of our four concerts concentrate on classical and modern orchestral music. The other production, the “Pops” concert, maintains a percentage of classical content while showcasing a popular guest artist. Each year, the orchestra includes music by Canadian composers and endeavors to feature music composed by contemporary Maritime composers. When selecting soloists, we seek to feature local or regional performers, as well as young up-and-coming Canadian artists.
