Atlantic Moves at Parcours Danse

December 19, 2013 | Two representatives from Atlantic Moves attended Parcours Danse in Laval, Quebec, the annual dance conference hosted by La danse sur les routes de Quebec. Tim Yerxa (Fredericton Playhouse) had this to say:

“Thanks to the Atlantic Moves professional development funding for presenters, Lee Bolton (Imperial Theatre) and I both attended La danse sur les routes annual platform, Parcours Danse held at the Maison des Arts de Laval and Montreal.

We were treated to a number of performance excerpts from emerging and established companies and choreographers including: Katia-Marie Germain, Isabelle Boulanger, Danse K par K, Montreal Danse, Daniel Léveillé Danse, Estelle Careton, Destins croisés, Frederick Gravel and Etienne Lapage, George Stamos and Louise Bédard Danse

Each company presented excerpts of work followed by a moderated discussion with the choreographers.

We also had a chance to see two works presented in a public space (the cafeteria of the CEGEP); Muriva danse and Les Installations Mouvantes

A work in progress was also presented by PPS Danse in a session in which the creators presented their research and process in a demonstration. Lee and I also had the opportunity to see the latest work by Rubberband Dance in a public performance at the 5ieme Salle at the Place des Arts. The meetings also included valuable networking and social time to connect and reconnect with our colleagues from Quebec and the Quebec dance milieu. Some additional organized activities included a participatory workshop and a speed dating session. The event was very valuable to us, not only because we had a chance to see some great work, but also to be immersed in the dance presentation community in Quebec, which is always inspirational.”
