Chester Playhouse Hiring Part-time Bookkeeper

April 2, 2019 | The Chester Playhouse is looking for a part-time Bookkeeper/Financial Administrator who would ensure that all accounts are kept up to date providing information, account breakdowns, cash flows and financial reports as required by the General Manager and/or the Board of Directors. Their systems of record are Sage (accounting) and Vendini (Box Office and Donations). The person in this position reports to the General Manager.

The Chester Theatre Council Society- is a registered charitable non-profit organization located in the centre of Chester which is responsible for theatrical, musical and movie events in its 176-seat theatre, youth programs, and a number of other community

Duties and Responsibilities:

Undertakes general financial management including regular bookkeeping for all income received and expenses incurred; up-to-date maintenance of accounting systems, financial records and ledgers, and related software Prepares checks for payroll and supplier invoices Monitors, prepares and submits tax remittance forms, workers' compensation forms, employee benefits, annual T4?s and any other required government documents Reconciles monthly bank statements and credit card statements Works with the auditors to prepare year end accounts Assists with the preparation of both annual budgets, program budgets and the development of multi-year budgets Prepares monthly financial reports showing both year-to-year and budget variances and as well as cash flow projections and account breakdowns when requested. Prepares financial reports and budgets for funding agencies Checks and identifies any errors in financial transactions and informs the General Manager of any developments which might affect the budget or cash flow Performs any other duties pertaining to bookkeeping as may be assigned by the General Manager from time to time

Knowledge & Experience:

Minimum 3 years related experience Relevant accounting/financial training related to processes, procedures, controls and financial reporting including management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledgers Knowledge of government policies and requirements surrounding tax, payroll and the administration of employee benefits Working knowledge of and proficiency with accounting software ? priority will be given to applicants who have worked with Sage and Vendini Proficiency with Excel Capacity to assist in analysing financial statements and think strategically

This position is a part-time position ranging from 8-10 hours per week; hours may fluctuate seasonally and with the intensity of programming events. Salary is commensurate with experience.
