Presenting Sponsor Announced for ShiftChange Conference

January 16, 2019 | This year’s edition of ShiftChange, Atlantic Canada’s only performing arts festival-focused conference, is shaping up to be a standout. Hosted by the Atlantic Presenters Association (APA), ShiftChange equips festival presenters with tools and innovative ideas to make their festivals stronger and more sustainable, creating amazing opportunities to discover what is new and trending from leading experts, share ideas and collaborate with colleagues, and connect with festival service providers. Last year’s event saw record-breaking attendance, a plethora of expert speakers, and multiple in-depth workshops, and things are only looking up for 2019.

The three-day event will take place on February 21-23, 2019 at the Atlantica Hotel in Halifax and APA is thrilled to announce ShiftChange’s presenting sponsor, Spektrix. Spektrix’s mission is to provide arts organizations with the best possible chance of success in ticketing, marketing, and fundraising through its cloud-based technology and support services. In addition to its presenting sponsor, APA is also excited to announce ShiftChange’s first four expert speakers: David Ciano, Mike Morrison, Janet Sellery and Cindy Wagman.

As the face of sales and marketing at Spektrix North America, David Ciano has had the chance to work with arts professionals from all across the industry and on multiple continents. His biggest focus is sharing the knowledge that Spektrix has gathered from working with its 400+ clients to help arts organizations make the most of their resources, find new strategies and build revenue. David has also held leadership positions at Playwrights Horizons in New York City and supported box offices for various Off-Broadway theater companies and film festivals.

Mike Morrison is the writer behind Mike's Bloggity Blog, which attracts nearly one million readers every year. For the past ten years, he's helped businesses develop modern digital marketing strategies and has created two digital marketing conferences: SocialWest, which takes place in Calgary, and SocialEast in Halifax.

Janet Sellery is one of Canada’s leading health and safety experts in the arts. Janet pioneered the health and safety program at the Stratford Festival, Canada’s largest repertory theatre, and was the Health & Safety Manager for the Opening, Closing and Victory Ceremonies at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.

Cindy Wagman is the founder of The Good Partnership – a boutique fundraising firm focused on small nonprofits. With over 15 years of experience in fundraising, she has worked in arts, social justice, health, and education organizations, and has overseen and executed everything from annual campaigns to multi-million dollar gifts.

ShiftChange’s speakers provide industry expertise, educational information, and networking opportunities for conference attendees. Troy Greencorn, of the Stan Rogers Folk Festival, is a two-time attendee, and is excited to return again this February. “I’m grateful to Atlantic Presenters Association for organizing this event each year. There aren’t many opportunities for festival-presenters to gather for professional development and networking with fellow industry professionals. This event is about quality more than quantity.
