April 12, 2018 | Atlantic Presenters Association members and colleagues are invited to a weekend of learning and discussions. Arts organizations, including theatres, festivals and series presenters across the region will gather to learn and reflect against a backdrop of pure relaxation and natural beauty! The weekend will begin Friday evening and conclude early afternoon on Sunday.

Who should attend?

Executive Directors, General Managers, Board Members and Outreach Coordinators or equivalents from theatres, festivals, concert series and arts organizations.

The Agenda

DAY 1 – Diversity & Inclusion Learning Workshop

Hosted by Crystal Taylor; This workshop is designed to foster diversity and inclusion in the arts, festival and presenting communities you are part of. This workshop will provide you with knowledge and tools on topics such as:

- diversity

- inclusion

- unconscious bias power/privilege,

- cultural action plans and writing policies

- through a cultural lens

- unique opportunity for personal discovery, awareness and growth

DAY 2 – Fireside Chat

Join us inside the lodge for an interactive session that will keep you moving and motivated for your next big idea. In addition, you will have a chance to chat with the APA team on services, workshops and what’s next.

Plan to arrive Friday for a 6:00pm start. Things will wrap-up Sunday at 2:00pm.


APA members - $50 per person or 2 for $80.00.

Colleague of APA - $80 with a discount of 2 for $125.

About Crystal Taylor

Crystal Taylor is a seasoned human resources practitioner and adult educator. Her career has been devoted to leading corporate policies and initiatives. She has recently retired from the Nova Scotia Community College where she held the college's first senior management position responsible for the strategic integration of diversity and inclusion. Crystal has also had the opportunity to work with both provincial and federal governments in various positions, such as Senior Human Resources Consultant, Diversity Management Consultant, Manager of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Manager of Human Resources Planning.

In addition to her full-time employment, Crystal has owned and operated an independent consulting company since 1995. Her company specializes in working with organizations to help them to effectively manage workplace challenges and opportunities related to human resources management issues. She has planned, designed and delivered many programs for public, private and community organizations. She specializes in a wide range of training services, such as employment equity, diversity & inclusion, unconscious bias, harassment, conflict resolution, respectful workplace, cultural competency, equity based teaching practices, inclusive leadership and so on.

Among her many awards and recognition, she has received the Public Service Award for Excellence for her work on a large scale special project; the Deputy Minister’s Award of Excellence for employment equity, Public Works and Government Services Canada; the Woman of Spirit Award, Dress for Success Halifax; and, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
