Calling All PEI Emerging Artists! Performance Opportunity Available!

March 19, 2018 | Ryan Cook, one of Atlantic Canada’s most celebrated country artists, is coming to PEI for a string of performances in rural communities as part of the Atlantic Presenters Association (APA) and the Association of Rural Community Halls (ARCH) “Rural Routes Tour”.

As part of the “Rural Routes Tour,” APA and ARCH are excited to launch a performance opportunity for emerging Island artists to support Ryan Cook as the opening act on this tour.

There will be five artists chosen by a panel of judges made up by representatives from the participating halls. Applications are now being accepted and the deadline to apply is April 6, 2018.

Selection Process:

There will be five (5) performers selected to participate in the Rural Routes Performance Opportunity.

Submission guidelines:

The following represents the criteria for the selection of performers to participate:

- Open to ages 15-25

- Genre: Singer/Songwriter in Country, Folk or Americana

- Contestants must be able to perform at least 3 songs (one must be an original)

- Must be a resident of Prince Edward Island for the last 12 months

- Deadline to apply is April 2, 2018 at 5PM AST

Submission emails must contain the following:

- Contestant’s full name

- Contact phone number

- Contact email

- Hometown

- List of 3 songs you would perform if chosen. At least one must be an original song written by the performer.

- Reason you deserve to be selected for the Rural Routes Performance Opportunity?

- Video of you performing one song live.This can simply be a video recorded on your phone. This video is to be no longer than 3 minutes in length.

A selected jury of music presenters will review the submission materials of the top fifteen (15) and select five (5) acts who will be contacted by April 6, 2018.

Performers who are chosen to play on the tour will receive a performance fee and will receive two guest passes attend the show.

Rural Routes is a program delivered by APA and ARCH to develop and build capacity for rural community halls on PEI. In addition to professional development and mentorship, one of the components of the program is an annual tour. There are currently 13 community halls participating in the Rural Routes program.
