Harbourfront Theatre | Summerside, PE

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing and Community Outreach Coordinator will work closely with the senior management team to fulfill the mission, core values and strategic goals of Harbourfront Theatre. This position will participate in planning and strategy with senior management, and be the “boots on the ground” executing objectives.

Overall objectives of the position:

Develop and deliver a comprehensive strategic and tactical plan for marketing and promotion, community outreach, income generation and awareness-raising for Harbourfront Theatre.

Raise the organisation’s media profile by defining and managing an effective communication strategy.

Promote the productions, services and public image of Harbourfront Theatre.

Devise and implement a highly effective audience development and engagement strategy and action plan, increase loyalty and target new audiences.

Engage in market research to identify target markets and their wants and needs.

Cultivate and maintain media contacts in order to generate relevant stories, interviews and other media coverage for the theatre.

Establish contacts and develop and nurture strong relationships within the wider arts community.

Develop and maintain solid relationships with schools and community groups; work with other community organizations to educate and inform them about Harbourfront Theatre.

Develop and implement a successful social media strategy.

Identify potential sponsors and donors through networking and community engagement activities.

Deliver messaging using a variety of tools, including events, brochures, web, video and social media as well as traditional advertising.

Develop corporate theatre rentals.

Specific duties / responsibilities include:

Develop comprehensive knowledge about the theatre and its activities, prospective clients and trends for the industry.

Sponsor engagement and benefit fulfillment.

Write news releases, articles, calendar listings and PSAs, ensuring consistency and accuracy as well as engaging and informative content.

Plan, organize and manage opening nights, promotional events and media conferences.

Solicit, arrange and organize media interviews (print, radio, TV).

Arrange scheduling, design and placement of print, radio and television advertising.

Development of season brochure from concept and design through implementation and printing, including ad sales.

Promotion of individual shows and series programming.

Contacting print and electronic media with story suggestions, news releases and calendar information.

Creation and distribution of regular E-newsletter and database maintenance.

Network and represent Harbourfront Theatre at industry events and community gatherings.

Analyze the impact of marketing campaigns and prepare measurement reports.

Work with fundraising committee and assist in achieving fundraising goals.

Assist with development of solicitation packages for potential sponsors.

Skills, attributes and experience:

Analytical, strategic, critical and creative thinker

Ability to identify challenges and devise solutions

Flexible and energetic approach to achieving individual and team objectives

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Superior interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills

Keen attention to detail and accuracy

Professional and positive attitude regarding the organization and the not-for-profit sector

Proven ability to devise and implement marketing strategies using the full marketing mix

Solid knowledge and experience with of digital marketing across e-mail marketing and social media channels

Strong planning skills; ability to put framework in place to realize established objectives

Experience working with design and media agencies; briefing, providing constructive feedback and getting the best out of them

Flexible hours, approximately 20 to 35 hours per week to start, which will include evenings and/or weekends. May become full time for the right candidate.

Salary range: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
