Corb Lund to Kick Off APA & RADARTS Canada 150 Performance Series

March 20, 2017 | The Atlantic Presenters Association (APA), in partnership with RADARTS, and with support from Canadian Heritage, are thrilled to present the “Canada 150 Performance Series”. This year, Canada celebrates the 150th anniversary of confederation, a pivotal milestone for our country. In order to help commemorate this milestone, 20 artists, from all disciplines of the performing arts, will tour through Atlantic Canada over the next year bringing their experiences, stories and inspiration about the country and being Canadian.

"I am pleased to see the Atlantic Presenters Association taking an important role to help promote the themes of Canada 150 through song and art. Their vision reflects the Canada 150 priorities of inclusion and diversity, increasing understanding between indigenous and non-indigenous communities, and engaging youth. This series is one of many activities taking place this year to remind Canadians where we've come from - and to get them thinking about where we're going” says Sean Casey, MP for Charlottetown and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Heritage.

The Canada 150 performance series offers shows in both official languages and will see nationally and internationally recognized artist touring through out the region from Happy Valley to Northern NB.

"People in our region may never have had the opportunity to experience these incredible shows in their own backyard without the Canada 150 Performance Series” says Angela Campbell, President of APA. “The partnership between APA and RADARTS under this project has opened a gateway into Atlantic Canada allowing our collective members to bring artists from all over the country into their communities so that they can share their stories, songs and their art as we all celebrate our nation’s rich history and diverse cultures."

APA and RADARTS are excited to announce CCMA and JUNO award-winning artist Corb Lund as the first tour in the Canada 150 Performance Series. This 15 date Atlantic Canadian tour marks the beginning of Corb first SOLO tour in his home country.

With nine studio albums under his belt, there is no denying Corb's music career, spanning three decades, is a force to be reckoned with. His seventh album, “Cabin Fever” (2012) debuted at #1 on the Billboard Canadian Charts. Three of Corb's albums are certified GOLD, while his latest release, “Things That Can’t be Undone” (2015), cemented his status as one of the top country storytellers and placed him on Rolling Stone’s “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know.” The tour kicks off in Wolfville, NS April 30 and wraps up May 20 in St.John’s, NL. See below for full details.

“Corb Lund is just the first of many more exciting artists to be announced. RADARTS and its members are very happy to be part of this Canada 150 performance Series project with APA members” says Jacinthe Comeau, Executive Director of RADARTS. “This partnership will give access to all communities of the Atlantic provinces to a culturally rich artistic programming to celebrate our country’s 150th anniversary.”

Atlantic Presenters Association and RADARTS gratefully acknowledges the financial support from the Government of Canada for this project.
